My sculptural work is informed by my interest in the natural sciences, and explores the intersection between science and art. The professional experiences not only as a ceramicist and sculptor, but also as a science illustrator, a land surveyor for the U.S. Forest Service, and an exhibition specialist for the California Academy of Sciences has helped form this inquiry into object and image making.

My current sculptural work is an exploration of studio based research: physicality and metaphor in concepts of torn, fatigued, erupted, collapsed, or disintegrated objects and images. I merge new technologies such as 3D modeling software with traditional hand skills such as drawing and ceramic construction. My goal is to create abstract pieces that explore the tensions between control and functionality, and the chaos found in natural forms.

The objects are constructed of primarily ceramic materials; clay and glaze chemicals.
